Hi- I’m Vivian- a seventeen year old girl who’s had a love-hate relationship with food her whole life. And now the author of Healthy. Simple. Delicious.- a food blog focusing on my culinary adventures.
I was born in Toronto, Ontario and have lived all around the GTA and now call Bolton home. I’m in my final year of high school and living my happiest and healthiest life. Although this was not always the case… Ever since the ripe age of 10 or so, I have been in and out of hospital ER’s, doctors offices, seen naturopaths and specialists, participated in clinics and eventually ended up in SickKids hospital as a patient. What was the problem? Chrons? Thalassemia? Irritable Bowel Syndrom? Hyper Thyroid Disease? Tumour? Acid Reflux? Hashimoto Auto Immune Disease? Tests upon tests were performed, ultrasounds, needles, surgeries and to no avail, no one could find out how to “fix” me. To make an endlessly long story short, with the help of a naturopath and my determined dad we decided a change in diet and lifestyle could be all the “fixing” I needed. So we said goodbye to the doctors, treatments and pills and tried a simple, healthy and delicious new diet. And it worked.
So, whats cooking here?
Is it enough to say tasty food? No? Ok then, I love to eat and cook healthy, simple and delicious meals.
Healthy food is something of true value and something your grandmother would be able to recognize. This is never food that is eaten at the sacrifice of my taste buds. I love sugar and cheese and meat and the occasional french baguette.
Simple food to me means taking a few, great ingredients and making something delightful that doesn’t take 6 hours or a whole army.
Delicious food is again, food that incorporates the simple and healthy aspects without removing the enjoyment of eating a fantastic meal. So yes, I’m using all real, wholesome, tasty ingredients. Except for the ones I don’t like (sorry olives, sorry seafood).
